2021 Ski Program

What: Vamonos Outside is partnering with Mt Bachelor and LCA to create a learn to ski/ride program specifically for Latinx/BIPOC teenagers in Bend. VO believes that Latinx/BIPOC youth in this community deserve the opportunity to thrive to be their best selves. We at Vamonos Outside want to get underserved youth out on the slopes. This program is geared towards those who have a strong interest in becoming skiers and snowboarders.

The goal of this program is to introduce youth to skiing and snowboarding, establish a connection with the winter environment and the potential for winter recreation career opportunities at places like Mt Bachelor or other winter resorts. This program will include lessons from Mt Bachelor instructors, a full season pass once 5 lessons are completed, winter clothing if needed, all ski or snowboard equipment necessary, transportation, food, and mentorship by members of the Latinx/BIPOC community. This VO Ski and Ride Academy is intended to be a multi-year program. Here is a broad breakdown what each year of the program will focus on:

Year 1: Learn to ski/ride + practice skills
Year 2: Build skills, mentor younger participants
Year 3: Opportunities to continue to mentor and grow skills

We understand that skiing and snowboarding have a lot of barriers to overcome including expensive gear, cost of passes, and transportation. Below is what we have to offer.
